What is accreditation?
JASANZ accreditation is a formal process based on measurable evidence. It’s an independent third-party assessment of your competence as a certifier or inspector.
How accreditation adds value
Accreditation is a seal of approval. It gives consumers — retailers, wholesalers and individual consumers — confidence that their purchases meet required standards.
What are the benefits of accreditation?
JASANZ accreditation is internationally recognised as the peak seal of approval a conformity assessment body can achieve.
Benefits include:
- highlights your competence
- confirms you’re independent and impartial
- earns you international recognition
- signals that you conform to rigorous standards.

What does JASANZ do with accreditation?
We accredit the bodies that certify or inspect organisations’ management systems, products or people. We develop the assessment criteria that certifiers and inspectors must meet to become accredited under these five sectors:
Examples of accreditation
Business and Innovation
Business and Innovation
The client
An Australian Government Department.
Problem
The issue was how to provide quality assurance and ensure a systematic approach to information security compliance for the service providers engaged by the department.
Solution
The department engaged JASANZ, with its technical expertise in certification, to develop a scheme that catered for the department’s unique data security and management requirements.
Outcome
Delivery of the scheme led to an enhanced security posture and increased trust among the service providers.
Summary
Both the department and the service providers benefited from a systematic approach that clarified compliance and strengthened data security.
Health and Human Services

The clients
Registered disability service providers and their participants.
Problem
People living with disability need to be able to trust that the disability service providers they are engaging with are qualified, effective and professional. An accreditated certification would provide them with this assurance.
Solution
JASANZ accredits quality auditors to assess disability providers, who must correct any problems auditors find in order to conform to professional standards and qualify for disability scheme registration and funding.
Outcome
Because registered disability providers are independently audited, that assurance increases confidence and safeguards for participants seeking quality disability services.
Summary
Both the providers of disability services and their clients benefit from operating in a system where independently certified auditors help to ensure effective, skilled and safe standards for all stakeholders.

The client
No Name Steel Ltd*, which makes prestressing wire used in structures like stadiums and high-rise buildings.
Problem
No Name Steel found its reputation in the Australian market was deteriorating and customers were going elsewhere. In spite of working with Australian and international steel suppliers to address quality issues, problems remained.
Solution
They decided to investigate third-party product certification. They wanted assurance that material inputs would be meet quality standards, and hoped that a JASANZ-accredited certification mark on its product would reverse their loss of customers.
They approached the JASANZ-accredited Anonymous Auditing*, who made sure that all the future material inputs came from certified steel mills and all the outputs met the required standards.
Outcome
Within one year from certification, No Name Steel experienced unprecedented growth in Australia and a 78% reduction in quality issues with their suppliers. John Doe*, plant manager, said, ‘Certification was a significant investment in time and expense but it’s all been worthwhile. We now have less downtime, lower customer returns and our sales pipeline is the best it’s been for years.’ Customers of No Name Steel experienced enhanced trust in the safety and quality of the product.
Summary
JASANZ-accredited product certification assisted an Australian company to improve the confidence in its product while simultaneously addressing supply-chain quality issues it had grappled unsuccessfully with for years.

The clients
Dairy companies, small and medium-sized businesses.
Problem
Food safety is critical and risk management tools and safety mechanisms are vital to protect consumers.
Solution
By certifying dairy and other food companies to the global standard ISO 22000, the independent audit of management systems and controls ensures safe food production.
Outcome
Enhanced food safety controls lead to higher quality and safer food being delivered to consumers and the expansion of market opportunities for food providers.
Summary
Apart from protecting consumers, by seeking to achieve accredited certification to ISO 22000, dairy companies minimise the risk of product recalls, food contamination and reputational damage, and increase their market share and export opportunities.
Sustainability and Environment
Sustainability and Environment
The client
A not-for-profit (NFP) organisation engaged in sustainable timber practices.
Problem
Global consumers and supply chains are increasingly demanding evidence that timber products are produced sustainably and legally harvested. Any inability to demonstrate sustainability excludes suppliers from substantial portions of the market.
Solution
The need for standardised management of sustainable forestry was identified and JASANZ developed a certification system in conjunction with the industry.
Outcome
The JASANZ accreditation delivered the validation of technical competence, credibility and transparency, all of which ensured the success of the Australian forest products sector.
Summary
Over 90% of commercial production forests in Australia are certified under the certification program.
