Kathryn has been a JASANZ team member for almost 15 years, commencing initially as the Assistant Manager of Business Development and Manager of Accreditation Services (Domestic). In 2014, she moved into her current position as the General Manager of Services, where she is responsible for all accreditation assessment activities JASANZ undertakes worldwide.
Prior to joining JASANZ, Kathryn had over 14 years with conformity assessment bodies as a Lead Auditor. She was also a New Zealand ACC Lead Auditor under the ACC partnership programme auditing systems covering WHS and rehabilitation of injured employees and a Rail Safety auditor.
Kathryn is a Board member for IOAS and has represented JASANZ on a number of IAF working groups and standard committees including ISO/CASCO/WG 61. This year she was also re-appointed as part of the executive for APAC.
We took the opportunity to sit down with Kathryn to ask her about her time so far at JASANZ.
Why did you join JASANZ?
Ironically it was the role of Assistant Manager Business development and working with key stakeholders that drew my attention to JASANZ as I wanted a change and felt I could add value in this area due my knowledge and experience in certification.
What do you like about working at JASANZ?
I learn something new everyday. It is forever changing. I like the people and the culture we have a great team.
What has been your greatest accomplishment at JASANZ during this time?
I would say building a strong team and being proud of how everyone came together when we had to change the delivery model from onsite to remote virtually overnight.
What has been your greatest challenge?
Actually, changing the delivery model. I sat down over a weekend and redesigned it and then we worked as a team to make it happen.
What does it mean to have achieved a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Management?
Last year was a very busy year so doing the PGCPM was a challenge but it gave me insight into the environment that governmental scheme owners operate in and the mechanisms around their decisions making processes which has been invaluable.
What’s next for you?
I have thought about doing the Diploma potentially next year. There are a number of opportunities to consider for the coming years.
Thanks Kathryn!
