The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JASANZ) has undergone a peer evaluation by the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC), reaffirming its status as a trusted accreditation body in the global conformity assessment network.

An APAC peer evaluation is a vital part of the accreditation process, where international experts assess an accreditation body’s quality, standards, and practices to ensure they meet strict criteria.

This evaluation confirms that JASANZ continues to meet the highest standards of quality assurance, maintaining its full signatory status to the APAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA).

JASANZ Acting General Manager Accreditation, Lee Culnane, said the outcome boosts confidence in certifications issued by JASANZ-accredited bodies.

“This successful peer evaluation reflects the dedication and professionalism of our team and reinforces the trust placed in JASANZ by governments, industries, and consumers globally.

“It highlights our ongoing commitment to ensuring that the products and services people rely on are safe, high-quality, and meet international standards, whether at home, in the office or in the community.

“The fact that JASANZ-accredited certificates are recognised in over 100 countries speaks to the strength of our system and the trust it supports around the world,” Mr Culnane said.

Mr Culnane also acknowledged the contributions of the peer evaluation team.

“Peer evaluations offer valuable opportunities for reflection and continuous improvement.

“We’re proud to uphold the spirit of the MRA and to strengthen our partnerships with APAC and the International Accreditation Forum,” he said.

“I also extend a special thanks to Mr Abdel Kassou and the entire APAC Peer Evaluation Team for your insights and contributions. This has been instrumental in helping us uphold the standards expected of accreditation bodies worldwide,” Mr Culnane concluded.

The evaluation was conducted in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011 and confirmed JASANZ’s full signatory status for the APAC MRA, in accordance with APAC MRA-001.

The evaluation outcome will now be finalised by the APAC Evaluation Review Board and presented to APAC MRA voting members for ballot.
