JASANZ has been successful in protecting its logo against misuse in Spain.  In a judgement handed down on 21 November 2023 the Madrid Court convicted Juan Jose Climent Fuentes of criminal charges relating to fraudulently using the JASANZ logo on a dozen accreditation certificates. Mr Fuentes was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment (suspended) and fined.

A symbol of trust

The JASANZ logo is more than just our intellectual property, it is a symbol of trust and integrity, providing assurance to all supply chain users, including the end user – the customer.

It provides veracity to compliance with the accreditation system that underlies all certificates issued by JASANZ, and it is therefore vitally important that we protect it and ensure it is being used correctly.

A warning against misuse

This recent case serves as a reminder to any who fraudulently use the JASANZ logo that JASANZ will take suitable action to protect its intellectual property, which may sometimes involve taking formal court proceedings.
