Pacific Voices Come Together for JASANZ Talanoa
The inaugural JASANZ Talanoa webinar was attended by industry leaders, practitioners, and stakeholders from across the Pacific to discuss the role of conformity assessment in supporting trade, economic development and stronger outcomes for communities throughout the region.
Reflecting the spirit of Talanoa, the webinar created space for open dialogue, shared learning and the exchange of perspectives on challenges and opportunities facing Pacific nations. What resulted was a meaningful and action-oriented conversation built on the valuable insight and reflection of the participants.
We sincerely thank everyone who participated and contributed to the discussion, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration and the value of creating opportunities for Pacific voice to be heard.
The conversations were enriched by distinguished speakers including, Her Excellency Ambassador Merewalesi Falemaka (Permanent Representative, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Delegation to the WTO and United Nations in Geneva), Mr Christopher Mosoro (Chair, Pacific Islands Testing Committee), Brahim Houla (Chair, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated), Alok Jain (Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat), and Roland Terry-Lloyd (Standards Australia). These speakers were joined by JASANZ representatives Kyran Rei and Sumeet Sharma in sharing their expertise, experience, and perspectives on conformity assessment and its significance for Pacific economies and communities.
Throughout the webinar, speakers emphasised the importance of strengthening regional capability, fostering cooperation and ensuring Pacific priorities remain central to ongoing discussions about quality infrastructure and conformity assessment.
The conversation also highlighted the opportunities for greater regional capability and cooperation through accreditation and conformity assessment.
More than an exchange of ideas, the event demonstrated what is possible when communities, leaders, technical experts, and decision-makers come together to listen, learn, and work towards shared goals.
This webinar marks the beginning of an ongoing conversation. JASANZ looks forward to continuing the Talanoa series and creating further opportunities for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and Pacific-led dialogue.
