Expression of interest are invited from Australian Test Laboratories and Certification Bodies keen to participate in conformity assessment activities related to renewable energy technologies.

The IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications (IECRE) aims to facilitate international trade in equipment and services for use in the renewable energy sectors while maintaining the required level of safety and performance.

As a member body, JASANZ plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality, safety, and reliability of renewable energy technologies.

In line with our commitment to fostering excellence and adherence to international standards, we are inviting interested Test Laboratories and/or Certification Bodies in Australia to join the IECRE and assist Australia in furthering our objectives internationally

Background

IEC Conformity Assessment (CA) Systems can help governments to ensure the safety of their citizens and promote access to global trade. 

IEC CA Systems facilitate global trade and enable easier and faster market access. Using IEC CA Systems, companies can demonstrate that they meet national requirements in terms of laws and regulations. By operating a single, global certification system, IECRE helps to remove significant delays and expenses for multiple testing and approval.

Thanks to IECRE, consumers can be confident that the renewable energy systems that provide them with electricity are safe to use and perform to expectations. Certified systems provide the necessary proof that they meet all the safety and performance requirements, based on standards.

Get involved

JASANZ is seeking interested bodies to join the system and help support the international and domestic quality assurance framework.

A public consultation paper for the IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications (IECRE) has been developed for review, as well as a pamphlet about the IECRE (see below).

Interested Test Laboratories and Certification Bodies are invited to submit expressions
of interest indicating their capabilities, expertise, and experience relevant to the scope outlined above.

Submissions should include the following information:

1. Company name, contact details, and key personnel.
2. Description of technical capabilities and infrastructure.
3. Accreditation status (if applicable) and relevant certifications.
4. Experience in conducting conformity assessment activities in the renewable energy sector.
5. Any additional information deemed relevant to the consultation.

Expressions of interest should be submitted via email to tsb@jasanz.org no later than 12 April 2024.
