Empowering SMEs for Global Change

The mission of the IEC Global Impact Fund is to promote the use of international standards and conformity assessment systems by small and medium enterprises (SMEs). By supporting SMEs, the Fund aims to enhance their capacity to tackle environmental, social, and economic challenges in a sustainable way. This includes fostering a coordinated, consensus-driven approach to electrification that can drive the green energy transition and prevent fragmentation in global efforts.

Addressing the Urgent Need for Sustainable Cooking Solutions

One of the Fund’s current projects focuses on bringing clean cooking solutions to communities in Asia. This project addresses an urgent global issue: today, about 2.4 billion people still rely on harmful cooking methods, such as burning wood, charcoal, and animal dung. These practices not only lead to inefficient cooking but also pose significant health risks, contributing to respiratory diseases and environmental damage.

The solution? eCooking—modern, clean cooking technologies such as electric pressure cookers, hot plates, and induction hobs, which can be powered by renewable energy. These innovations offer a sustainable and safe alternative to traditional cooking methods, providing healthier options for communities in need.

However, challenges such as limited energy access still remain in many regions. The IEC Global Impact Fund is committed to overcoming these barriers by supporting projects that bring clean cooking solutions to underserved areas and help improve health and environmental outcomes.
