Standards Transition Update, September 2026

There are important developments in the publication of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO/IEC 17024 and associated transition arrangements.

ISO 9001:2026 (Ed 6) has been published, and an initial launch event was held by the ISO that was recorded and available for viewing here. With ISO 14001:2026 published in April, CABs and certificate holders should now be   focussed on appraising the changes required to their quality and environmental management systems, and progressing towards preparing to transition to the new requirements.

To that end, the internationally harmonised transition minimum requirements for ISO 14001 (EMS Scheme) has been published by Global ACI in the past few weeks, and those for ISO 9001:2026 (QMS Scheme) imminent. Publication of these minimum requirements facilitates an internationally consistent approach. In addition, a Transition Document for ISO/IEC 17024 has been published, and these can be read at the ‘Technical Documents’ (Transition) page of Global ACI:

JASANZ is finalising its internal transition requirements for the QMS and EMS Schemes for upgrading assessment personnel and undertaking CAB assessments and will be providing more details soon.

In addition, JASANZ:

  • has contacted all endorsed Scheme Owners of person certification schemes to explain respective obligations arising from the Global ACI Technical Document (Transition) for ISO/IEC 17024:2026; And

  • will be publishing its transition requirements for ISO/IEC 17020:2026 (inspection) requirements for Inspection Bodies shortly.

The transition requirements are informed by several month consultation processes performed around the world. JASANZ looks forward to undertaking more promotional events of these important standards.
