JASANZ and Responsible Wood have launched a training program in forest management auditing, bringing forestry, wood and conformity assessment professionals together.
The program, JASANZ Futures × Responsible Wood, combines forestry and wood expertise with knowledge of the conformity assessment systems that support credible forest management certification.
JASANZ CEO Sarah Valentine said the partnership was an investment in market confidence.
“Accredited certification is part of the infrastructure of trade.
“It gives businesses a way to show their products and practices meet the standards their markets expect.
“Our partnership with Responsible Wood is a long-term commitment to forestry and the trade it supports,” Ms Valentine said.
Responsible Wood Acting CEO Matt de Jongh said the program would help strengthen auditing capability and support the integrity of forest management certification.
“Forest certification gives businesses a credible way to demonstrate responsible forest management and meet market expectations.
“By investing in auditing capability, our goal is to continue reinforcing the integrity of sustainable forest management practices, helping businesses maintain their certification and ensuring forests are responsibly managed for generations to come.”
Responsible Wood is funding 15 sponsored places, helping more people develop specialist knowledge of forest management certification.
The program runs from April to July 2027, with sessions delivered by specialists from Responsible Wood, JASANZ and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
